Guide for freelancers

Invoice as a freelancer without your own company

Short answer

As a freelancer, you want to focus on what you're good at, not on bookkeeping, VAT and tax returns. With umbrella employment through Accly Frilans, you avoid all the admin while keeping the security of being employed: SGI, pension contributions, parental pay and sickness benefit all keep building up, just like for any other employee.

How to invoice as a freelancer – 5 steps

The whole process happens in our tool. All you need is a Swedish personal identity number and a bank account.

  1. 1. Create a free account

Sign up with BankID or email in under a minute.

  2. 2. Add your client

Company or private individual, Swedish or foreign – it all works.

  3. 3. Invoice in our tool

Correct VAT and legal wording are added to the invoice automatically.

  4. 4. We send the invoice

Accly Systems AB (the company's registered name) acts as the legal sender and keeps track of the payment.

  5. 5. You get your net salary

Once the recipient has paid the invoice, Accly Frilans pays out your salary within 1–3 days.

Calculate your invoice

Security you don't get as a sole trader

Umbrella employment gives you the freedom of freelance life with the security of employment.

We keep track of the payment

We send the invoice, handle reminders and follow up on the payment so you don't have to chase clients.

Insurance through your employer

Collective-agreement-style terms because we're your employer.

Invoice factoring

With invoice factoring, you can get paid before the recipient has paid the invoice. Accly Frilans then takes on the credit risk, and an extra fee applies.

SGI and pension keep building up

Your payment counts as employment income, just like a regular salary.

Do I need F-tax?

No. Since Accly Systems AB is the legal sender, we use our own F-tax registration. You invoice under our company registration number and are treated as an employee, not as a sole trader. The Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) treats you as an employee, which also means you can combine freelance work with employment or studies without complicating your tax return.

Invoice foreign clients

Invoice clients in the EU and the rest of the world with the correct VAT treatment directly in our tool. We handle reverse VAT liability, EU VAT and add the correct legal wording automatically.

Umbrella employment with other providers or Accly? What's the difference?

Many freelancers compare the different umbrella employment providers – the difference mainly comes down to fees, user experience and how quickly you get paid. Accly Frilans is the provider with the lowest fee on the market and a tool built to simplify your process.
